When I began painting, the intent was to paint decorations on furniture. Unexpectedly, I found it to be so much more. For me art is a way to examine details and envision the complexities and connections of every day symbols, long taken for granted.
Painting often reminds me of the feeling I had when my children were small and I could re-live the discovery of the world through their eyes. In my studio, the pulls of everyday life recede and the creative process brings back my own sense of childhood joy: lost in the pleasure and challenge of play.
In short, my art has allowed me a new voice to sing of the wonderful textures of my life and the world around me.
P.S. I still haven't painted any furniture.
